Name Change and Mission Expansion of the Mine Revival Plan Approved by IMIDRO
Abbas Jorjani, Executive Director of the Revival Plan, announced this news and explained: This measure has been taken with the aim of developing processing units, completing the value chain, increasing the added value of mineral materials, and bringing idle mines and processing units back into the production cycle.
He added: In line with the macro-policies of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade for completing the value chain in the mining sector and increasing productivity from the country’s mining capacities, IMIDRO’s Board of Directors has approved changing the title of the “Plan for Revival, Activation and Development of Mines” to the “Plan for Revival, Activation and Development of Mines and Mining Industries.”
Jorjani emphasized: This name change is not merely a title amendment, but rather indicates the expansion of this plan’s missions and a special focus on the revival, development, and commissioning of mineral processing units alongside inactive mines—an approach that can play an effective role in activating the neglected capacities of the mining sector.
He continued: Under this resolution, the development and construction of processing units will be pursued as one of the plan’s main priorities; because many of the country’s mines are operating at low capacity or have remained completely idle due to a lack of processing infrastructure. The establishment of these units, while providing the possibility of economic exploitation of mineral reserves, will pave the way for a significant number of mines to return to the production cycle.
Jorjani concluded: Furthermore, the integration of inactive mines with processing units appropriate to the type of mineral will provide the groundwork for producing products with higher added value; an issue that, in addition to increasing profitability for miners, will significantly contribute to the economic development of mining regions, creating sustainable employment, and boosting downstream industries.
