Lithium Ionic adds lithium stalwart Ortega to board
Lithium Ionic has appointed two new independent directors John Turner and Ernie Ortiz Ortega.
The company says these appointments strengthen the board’s governance, legal, mining transaction and lithium capital markets expertise as it advances development of the Bandeira project, in Brazil, toward construction readiness and production.
At Lithium Ionic’s AGM earlier this week, existing boadmembers Blake Hylands, Ian Pritchard, David D’Onofrio and Clovis Torres were re-elected for another term.
Turner is a Canadian mining lawyer with nearly four decades of experience in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, project finance and corporate governance across the global resources sector.
In turn, Ortega founded and headed Lithium Royalty Corporation, which had a global portfolio of 38 lithium royalties during his time before the company was sold to Altius Minerals Corporation in March this year. Ortega is also a founding member of the London Metal Exchange Lithium and Cobalt Advisory Committee.
