From Pellets to Rebar: Five Steel Chain Products Offered on the Industrial Trading Floor

The Industrial Open Auction Trading Floor of the Iran Mercantile Exchange hosted the offering of five types of products from the mining and steel value chain today, Sunday, August 16, 2026. The offering, featuring a significant volume of iron ore products ranging from pellets and concentrate to lump and sized iron ore, highlighted the continued role of the exchange in supplying raw materials to the country's mining and steel industries.

A total of 1,371,250 metric tons of mining and steel products were offered today on the Industrial Open Auction Trading Floor of the Iran Mercantile Exchange.

According to the report, 5,250 metric tons of rebar were offered at a base price of 641,674 rials.

Also, 444,000 metric tons of iron ore pellets were made available to buyers at a base price of 134,834 rials. As one of the key links in the steel production chain, pellets play an important role in supplying feedstock to direct reduction units.

In addition, 363,000 metric tons of iron ore concentrate were offered at a base price of 108,050 rials. This product is also considered a strategic raw material for pellet production and meeting the needs of steelmaking units.

The Iran Mercantile Exchange’s Industrial Trading Floor also saw the offering of 454,000 metric tons of lump iron ore at a base price of 21,108 rials. In addition, 105,000 metric tons of sized iron ore were made available to buyers at a base price of 40,915 rials.

The composition of today’s offerings shows that iron ore products accounted for the dominant share of the Industrial Open Auction Trading Floor. The simultaneous offering of pellets, concentrate, lump iron ore, and sized iron ore could be important for participants across the steel value chain, particularly direct reduced iron and crude steel producers, in terms of raw material supply planning.
