Medallion launches major Ravensthorpe survey
Medallion Metals has launched the first helicopter-borne electromagnetic survey across its Ravensthorpe gold project in Western Australia, targeting new gold-copper sulphide discoveries along a highly prospective regional corridor.
Covering about 120 square kilometres, the program will collect up to 1245-line kilometres of airborne data across the Mt Cattlin–Kundip–Trilogy corridor.
The survey represents the first project-wide application of airborne electromagnetic technology at Ravensthorpe since 2010.
Its results will be used to identify conductive sulphide targets and guide follow-up exploration and drilling through 2026 and 2027.
The program follows encouraging drilling and downhole electromagnetic results from the Kundip mining centre, where high-grade gold-copper-silver mineralisation has been associated with conductive pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite-pyrite sulphides.
Medallion managing director Paul Bennett said the earlier exploration results had given the company confidence to deploy airborne electromagnetic technology more broadly across Ravensthorpe.
“Recent success with downhole electromagnetics at Kundip has given us the confidence to deploy our first Airborne EM survey across the Ravensthorpe Gold Project,” Bennett said.
“Covering the highly prospective Mt Cattlin to Trilogy corridor, the program provides a rapid and cost-effective way to identify additional sulphide exploration targets and prioritise follow-up drilling.
“As we continue advancing Ravensthorpe towards development, the survey has the potential to further demonstrate the value of our dominant and strategic ground holding in a region highly prospective for gold and copper.
“We also appreciate the support of the Western Australian Government through the Exploration Incentive Scheme, which supports the technical merit of this program.”
The survey will combine electromagnetic, magnetic and very low frequency datasets with Medallion’s existing geological, geochemical and geophysical information.
The integrated results will help the company refine targets and investigate potential extensions to known mineralisation.
Survey lines will be flown at spacings ranging from 50m around Kundip to 100m and 200m across selected regional areas.
Expert Geophysics will undertake the work using its Target EM26 helicopter-borne time-domain electromagnetic system.
Data acquisition is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with processing expected across the third and fourth quarters.
Medallion plans to interpret the results and generate priority exploration targets during the fourth quarter, ahead of ground electromagnetic surveys and drill testing.
The Western Australian Government has awarded the program $135,000 through its Exploration Incentive Scheme, covering 50 per cent of direct survey costs.
The award brings Medallion’s total Exploration Incentive Scheme co-funding for new geophysical and seismic programs to $310,274.
