Angouran Mining Complex Hosts National Conference on Environmental Impacts of Mining
The Angouran Lead and Zinc Mining Complex hosted the national conference titled "Environmental Impacts of Mining in Protected Areas" with the participation of more than 50 managers, environmental rangers, and senior experts, aiming to enhance technical knowledge and promote sustainable mining practices. The event provided a platform to examine environmental challenges and exchange scientific solutions for managing the impacts of mining activities in environmentally sensitive regions.
The training program was organized to improve environmental expertise, promote sustainable mining practices, and strengthen environmental responsibility within the mining sector. It also created an opportunity for knowledge sharing, the exchange of professional experience, and discussions on scientific approaches to environmental protection.
During the conference, leading academics and industry specialists presented the latest scientific and technical findings on topics including strategies for managing and mitigating the environmental impacts of mining, the social and economic effects of mining activities, the impact of mining on regional air quality and climate, the effects on surface and groundwater resources, and the consequences for soil and vegetation.
As part of the event, participants also visited Kimia Zanjan Gostaran Company (Zarrin Group), one of Zanjan Province’s leading mineral processing facilities, where they were introduced to the company’s mineral processing operations, advanced technologies, and environmental management initiatives.
At the closing ceremony, Aref Bagheri, Director of the Angouran Lead and Zinc Mining Complex, thanked the participating professors, managers, environmental rangers, and experts, as well as the organizers of the conference.
He stated that greater cooperation and synergy between the mining and environmental sectors would pave the way for sustainable development and the responsible utilization of the country’s mineral resources.
Bagheri also expressed hope that such specialized programs would enhance technical expertise, strengthen inter-sectoral cooperation, and promote modern approaches to environmental protection and mining activities.
