Codelco reaches collective agreement with unions
Chilean state-owned Codelco said on Thursday it had reached a collective contract agreement with two workers’ unions representing employees at its Andina mine ahead of a planned deadline, helping avert the risk of a strike at the site.
  Zoom:

The three-year deal is set to cover over 800 workers represented by the Unified Workers Union (SUT) and the Industrial Labor Integration Union (SIIL) and should come into effect this August.

Codelco did not give further details about the deal for workers at the mine, which produced some 164,500 metric tons of copper last year.

“Codelco values the dialogue, good understanding and respect displayed in this process with the unions and their associates,” the firm said in a statement.
