URU signs drilling contract for Limpopo project
URU Metals’ subsidiary Lesego Platinum Uitloop (LPU) has signed the drilling contract for the next phase of work at its Zeb nickel project, in Limpopo, South Africa.
The appointed drilling contractor is scheduled to mobilise to site by November 2, with drilling expected to start by November 9, subject to completion of the remaining site-readiness and health and safety requirements.
The initial drilling will focus on Zone 2, where the programme is designed to provide the data needed to work towards a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the nickel/copper/platinum-group-element mineralisation.
Drill holes have been positioned using the completed Leapfrog 3D geological model.
“This is a hugely significant milestone for URU Metals and the culmination of more than 12 months of hard work, detailed planning and determination by the entire team,” says URU exploration manager Richard Montjoie.
“We are now moving from preparation to execution, and that represents a potentially transformational moment for the company and the Zeb nickel project.
“With the drilling contract signed and mobilisation to site now underway, we have a clear timetable towards commencing what we believe will be a critically important drilling campaign,” he adds.
Montjoie says the objective is to unlock the considerable potential of Zeb Nickel and advance the project towards its maiden MRE.
“After everything that has gone into reaching this point, it is incredibly exciting to be on the verge of drilling,” he acclaims.
The immediate priority is to complete mobilisation safely and get the first hole underway as soon as possible, Montjoie says.
