Glencore secures land access agreement for Coroccohuayco expansion project in Peru

Diversified miner Glencore's Peruvian subsidiary Antapaccay has completed the access agreements required for the last blocks of land to unlock the brownfield Coroccohuayco copper project in Espinar, Cusco.

The project team will now work towards securing the final permits to enable first production, which is expected in the second half of 2029. Coroccohuayco is projected to significantly increase Antapaccay’s life of mine and future copper production.

Glencore South America COO Luis Rivera says securing access to the required land is an important milestone for Coroccohuayco and for the long-term future of the wider Antapaccay operation. “It complements the environmental approval received earlier in the year. We will continue to work closely with the local communities and authorities as we take the project forward.”

The Coroccohuayco project is expected to extend Antapaccay’s life of mine to more than 40 years, supporting jobs, local suppliers and economic development in Espinar and the wider Cusco region for decades to come,” concludes Glencore industrial lead for copper Jon Evans.
