According to Mining News Pro - Hundreds of workers have been evacuated from a mine site in Western Australia after its power station burnt down.

The fire started about 1am on Saturday and caused extensive damage to the power station's diesel engine room.
IGO Limited, which runs the nickel-copper mine in the Goldfields-Esperance region, said the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Hundreds of workers have been evacuated from a mine site in Western Australia after its power station burnt down.

No workers were injured but it is expected to take several weeks to restore power to the site.

All non-essential staff will be flown home in the meantime.

WorkSafe inspectors will travel to the site in the coming days to investigate.
