According to Mining News Pro - Maroufkhani, CEO of Hormozgan Steel Company said: Power outages in the past three months have damaged the country's steel industry, and it is necessary to pay attention to energy supply infrastructure with high urgency when the new government is installed.
“For several months, the country's steel industry has been in trouble and almost shut down due to energy imbalance. Naturally, Hormozgan Steel also struggles with this challenge, so that in August almost no electricity reached the steel plant. But for several days, the company's electricity is connected only at night, which is not very useful and effective for our company with a capacity of more than 1.5 million tons,” he added.
“When the electricity in the steel industry is cut off, in addition to the production, heavy damages are incurred due to other issues such as cooling and heating of the furnace, especially the damage to the refractories and electrodes. This situation involved the entire steel industry in Iran, especially in Hormozgan province, where we saw more outages,” he explained.
The CEO of Hormozgan Steel Company, referring to the consequences of power outages and reduced production, noted: One of the challenges of reducing production is endangering the export market and losing the company's main customers.
