LibertyStream secures definitive offtake for 60% of lithium carbonate capacity

LibertyStream Infrastructure Partners has entered into a definitive lithium carbonate offtake agreement with a US industrial customer.

The definitive agreement follows a term sheet signed last month, formalising a multi-year supply relationship for US-produced lithium carbonate from Freedom 1.

Freedom 1 is LibertyStream’s first 1 000 t/y commercial-scale facility being developed at Select Water Solutions’ Howard County site.

Under the initial delivery schedule, LibertyStream will supply 600 t/y of lithium carbonate starting in 2027, which will be delivered in quarterly shipments of 150 t. The agreement with the customer represents 60% of Freedom 1’s planned yearly output.

“For Freedom 1, 600 t/y, with two years of pricing agreed, provides a clear demand anchor as we move toward customer delivery planning. It matters for customers, shareholders and potential capital partners because it links planned production to a definitive commercial contract,” says LibertyStream CEO and president Alex Wylie.

LibertyStream will be one of North America’s first commercial producers of lithium carbonate from oilfield brine. It deploys its proprietary direct lithium extraction technology into existing oil and gas infrastructure, thereby reducing capital costs, lowering risks and supporting the world’s clean energy transition.
